Here’s my follow-up – still focusing on minerals for now. Since, even eating “right” may not provide all that we need; supplementation is the only realistic answer.
Now hold on, not all supplements have been created equal. Here’s what I have found:
The absorption rate for “low-tech” mineral supplements, the discounted, super inexpensive kind is reported to be in the range of 5-10%. Sounds like they pass right on through with little benefit.
If some scientific manipulating has been done, like chelation or citration, that amounts to combining them with enzymes or other nutrients the body needs - the suggested rate rises to 25-30%. That’s a big improvement, but still not what we need. I’ve been using a supplement that uses fructose compounding – attaching minerals to fructose molecules. The body cells love fructose – instant energy – they gobble them up and in so doing the cells also take in the mineral. An article I read said that absorption could be as high as 80%+ in this form. But, there has been no science that could identify this number.
Hold on! The company I have been buying my supplements from has announced a scientific breakthrough that no other business has or can duplicate. I’ll report on it in my next posting.
